Question-10

QUESTION: I cannot support your campaign at this stage because you stated that the full case narrative will be withheld and not published unless your conviction is quashed. That feels like a betrayal of others who are also victims of miscarriages of justice but have no legal help or public support to fight their cases. It gives the impression that your campaign is self-serving—that you only care about your own exoneration, rather than supporting the many vulnerable people you encountered in prisons who were begging for help. By withholding the details of police and CPS corruption, it seems as if your goal is to be accepted back into the legal profession, perhaps even to become a prosecutor, doing to others what was done to you. That feels like a betrayal of the cause, and I cannot stand behind it.

RESPONSE: First, we sincerely apologise for taking years to publicly respond to this heartfelt concern. Your message made us pause, reflect, and rethink the direction of our campaign in a deeper and more principled way.

You’re right: the initial approach of withholding details pending the outcome of the appeal could have come across as self-centred. That was never the intention, but we acknowledge how it could be interpreted as prioritising one case over the many others facing injustice in silence. We thank you for holding us accountable.

In response, the campaign has evolved significantly. We have published a series of critical works that challenge the entire structure of the justice system—not just Joseph’s conviction. These books were born out of both personal trauma and a deep commitment to those left voiceless behind bars:

  1. Abolishing the Police: From Law Enforcers to Law Umpires
  2. Redeem System: Abolishing Prisons, Rebuilding People
  3. NeuroWired to Offend: How Biology, Culture, and Justice Collide in the Criminalisation of Sexual Behaviour
  4. Conviction Addiction: How Justice Lost Its Moral Compass
  5. Equitas Forum: Abolishing the Court System, Rebuilding Justice
  6. Justice System on Trial: The Public as Judge and Jury

Each of these works although are on sale on Amazon, but they are not locked behind a paywall. They are available to read online for free and download on our dedicated website at www.makinee.com . The books, combined, contains factual critiques of institutional corruption, systemic overreach, and legal bias—drawing from Joseph’s lived experience while framing it in service of broader reform. These books aim to dismantle oppressive structures and uplift a collective call for justice, not just personal vindication.

However, it is true that we have temporarily withheld publishing a full exposé of the specific individuals and agencies involved in Joseph’s conviction. This is not an attempt to protect them, seek reentry into the legal profession, or hide the truth. Rather, it is a strategic legal decision, out of respect for the ongoing Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) appeal currently before the court.

If the conviction is not quashed, we will publish the full account, naming all involved parties and outlining the prosecutorial, court, jury, CCRC, and police misconduct in its entirety.

We appreciate your concern deeply and thank you for your honesty. This campaign is now—and has always intended to be—about more than one man. It is about transforming justice for everyone. We welcome continued scrutiny, accountability, and support from those who believe in that mission.

Your voice made this campaign stronger. Thank you.
